I will always feel like we, as a country, failed Hillary Clinton. I understand that she is not a good person, but it is almost impossible to be a good person and be a politician. Disregarding that, she was, in my opinion, one of the most qualified presidential candidates we have ever had. She is extremely intelligent and educated with an extensive background in politics. And, she was running against the least qualified candidate we've ever had. In every debate, she sounded intelligent while Trump called her a crook and made sexist comments about her. Then, even though she won the popular vote, she lost to him. Can you imagine how that must feel? To believe you were going to be the first female US president and then to lose to the least qualified and most bigoted candidate the US has possibly ever seen. There is no universe in which Hillary Clinton should have lost to Trump. We failed her, and I feel so sad and guilty about it when I look back.

I'm curious to see if US news media will finally stop riding trumfs dick, and report on him honestly, or just switch to focusing exclusively on Kamala Harris as "inexperienced."
#or spin a huge news cycle about whether she's allowed on the ballots#even tho that's a non issue#idk if anyone remembers it fr 2016 but the right wing media bias in the USA gets really obvious with Trump#even NPR was like are the claims Hilary Clinton is a baby eaten satanist true we report

Women in Politics
I know that his election was devastating for a billion and a half reasons, but one thing that occurred to me was how much of an example this is going to set for girls interested in Politics, or any position of power in general. Like, the Trump campaign's have shown that no matter how qualified the woman is, no matter how smart, likable, or strong, they will always be second best to any man. Two of the most qualified women in politics, who had years of experience lost to a bigoted dumbass with a big mouth and bigger pockets. Harris and Clinton worked their whole lives to reach the positions they were in before their campaigns and some fuckup who just decided one day to run for president. And he still fucking won. Twice. Because he is a man and his opponents weren't. Just look at what happened when we pitted another old white dude against him. It shows just how deep seeded a lot of the sexism and misogyny in the country is and shows us just how far we still have to go. We're on the stage, but the judges are still rigged.

has there ever been any confirmation about who the bushes voted for in 2016 between trump and hillary?
As far as I'm aware, neither of the two Bush Presidents ever publicly addressed who they cast their ballots for in 2016. But in Peter Baker and Susan Glasser's 2020 book, The Man Who Ran Washington: The Life and Times of James A. Baker III (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) -- an excellent biography of the former Secretary of State, Treasury Secretary, White House Chief of Staff, and longtime best friend of George H.W. Bush (Baker was at Bush's bedside in Houston when the former President died in 2018) -- they mention that Bush 41 voted for Hillary Clinton, former First Lady Barbara Bush wrote in the name of Jeb Bush, and Bush 43 voted for "none of the above."

Hillary won the popular vote by just under 2.9 million votes, with narrow margins in New Hampshire and Minnesota, and losses of less than 1 percent in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and 1.2 percent in Florida, more than enough to cost her the Electoral College. We live in the only country in the world where you can win the election and still lose the job. Election night was like a death watch. I just tried to be there for Hillary, to help her get through it with Chelsea, Marc, Charlotte, and baby Aidan. I thought back over all the years we’d been together, how I quickly decided when we were in law school that she was as gifted a leader as I’d ever met. She inspired confidence in people and made them believe they could and should make a difference. In all the work she had done since, she devoutly followed the instruction of Methodism’s founder, John Wesley: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” She would have been a great president. I was heartsick for her and for our country. I knew she wouldn’t be broken by this. But the country might be. [...] This whole thing is hard for me to write. I couldn’t sleep for two years after the election. I was so angry, I wasn’t fit to be around. I apologize to all those who endured my outbursts of rage which lasted for years and bothered or bored people who thought it pointless to rehash things that couldn’t be changed. In this chapter, I’ve tried to calmly write about the darkest election possible in the United States, because it’s important to understand what happened. Our country had, and still has, the best prospects for a bright twenty-first century. I still want that future, and we can’t have it without a press that’s on the level. I don’t want 2016 to ever happen again.

I’m so scared. I remember being 17, coming downstairs and my mom and sisters were watching Fox News coverage of the election results, and I started arguing with them about it. My friend invited me over so I ended up watching are his house, and were both so upset when Trump won. I went home and cried. All of my family was happy about the results, aside from me. I really need this not to happen again

BOTH PARTIES ARE THE SAME!!!, SCOTUS edition:
Clarence Thomas: appointed by George H.W. Bush (Republican)
Samuel Alito and John Roberts: appointed by George W. Bush (Republican)
Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett: appointed by Donald Trump (Republican)
Conservative total: 6
Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan: appointed by Barack Obama (Democrat)
Ketanji Brown Jackson: appointed by Joe Biden (Democrat) replacing Stephen Breyer, appointed by Bill Clinton (Democrat), who also appointed Ruth Bader Ginsburg;
Liberal total: 3
Most common split on all these bad decisions: 6-3
Gee, it's almost like SCOTUS actually is incredibly important, Hillary Clinton and the entire mainstream Democratic electorate knew that in 2016, Democratic presidents consistently appoint the justices who are on the side of the rulings that you agree with, it was maybe a bad idea to let a man charged with 71 felony counts including criminal espionage appoint one-third of the current court, and yet BUH BUH BERNIE AND HER EMAILS.
#hilary for ts#politics for ts#hillary clinton was right about everything: the redux redux redux#i will never not once ever not be salty about this#and how the purity brigade and decades of GOP bile aimed at hillary#have gotten us to exactly this point that all of us with brains in our heads saw coming back in 2016#urrrrrrgh

Harping on "deplorables" is grievance monster shit. Hilary lost, and while she's still in the party, she's not designing the platform anymore. It'd be like if libs brought up Romney's similar backhanded elitism. Say what you will about liberals getting fixated on 2016, at least Trump is clearly still at the helm of American conservatism. Hillary is a washup.
I mentioned the deplorable thing in the context of discussing the Democratic Party’s use of mean words and how 2024 voters feel. Considering that Trump voters took on the self-identification of deplorables and are still using it, comment remains relevant to how each party uses rhetoric.
Making up your own terms you aren’t defining and deciding that what the Dems did in 2016 is irrelevant to how voters feel about the candidates in 2024 is a tad obnoxious.
Also, I have a sneaky suspicion that the thing you mean by “grievance monster” is more that you dislike me saying that things that happened in the recent past are still relevant to some people than that you think I personally am still butt-hurt about something Hilary said.

breaking my hiatus to let y’all know that the republican party’s new campaign tactic for november 2024 is to criticize joe biden for not releasing the tapes literally hell yeah brother ive been wondering his plan about that too
#someone forward this to jensen ankles#the reason i get rnc emails is because when i was a stupid undergrad i thought it would be funny to subscribe to all the campaigns running#for president in 2016 which was donald trump hilary clinton gary johnson and jill stein to compare their campaign rhetoric#which WAS fun and funny bc i’m a policy nerd for sure but my data has been sold sooo many times to other campaigns#also i read through this whole email and it’s very unclear what tapes they want released so it’s entirely possible that they mean the secret#destiel kiss from the supernatural 15x18 despair confession scene filming
